The Greater Haitian American Chamber of Commerce (GHACC) proudly hosted a historic event that marked a significant milestone in Haitian cinema: the meet and greet and trailer of the very first Haitian movie “July 7: Who Killed the President of Haiti?” produced and directed by Robenson Lauvince to be aired at the box office May 16th, 2025. This groundbreaking moment was celebrated with immense pride and joy, bringing together members of the Haitian community and allies to honor our rich culture and creative talent. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as everyone gathered to witness this monumental achievement, a testament to the growing influence and recognition of Haitian artistry on the global stage.
Meeting Robenson, Tico Armand, and Evens Jean Baptiste was undoubtedly a highlight of the evening.
It was a privilege to connect with the talented individuals behind this groundbreaking project, hearing their stories and aspirations firsthand. Their passion and dedication to telling authentic Haitian stories resonated deeply with everyone present. Their commitment to showcasing Haitian culture through film has opened new doors for our community in the entertainment industry, inspiring future generations of filmmakers and artists.
The momentum generated from this event was truly remarkable. Within just one night, we received over 700 pledges from members of the Haitian community and supporters eager to see the movie. This overwhelming response demonstrates the strong cultural pride and unity among our people. It also highlights the significance of this film not only as entertainment but as a powerful representation of our heritage, resilience, and identity. The enthusiasm and collective support are a clear indication that this film will make a lasting impact at the box office.
To cap off this historic night, GHACC presented a proclamation honoring the achievement and celebrating Haitian culture. We are confident that with such passionate support, the movie will sell out all theaters in Orlando and beyond. This event marks a new chapter for Haitian cinema, and we are proud to be part of this movement. Together, we are paving the way for more Haitian stories to be told and celebrated on the big screen, showcasing our culture to the world with pride and excellence.
